February is the month for pecans, grouper and quail in Alabama. The in-season edibles are scarce during the winter, so pop open your jars of canned produce from seasons past or bags of frozen fruits and veggies to bulk up meals. Look for these at your local farmers market, fish monger or U-Pick.

Note: Hunting seasons and bag limits vary by county; consult the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for specific information about permits and laws in your region. Some hunting seasons, such as feral hog, are open year-round.
