Mardi Gras Mobile

Mobile was the birthplace of America's original Mardi Gras. And ever since 1703, the Port City and its surrounding towns have been throwing majestic parades to mark the beginning of Lent. For a month leading up to Fat Tuesday, you can catch balls, parties and parades featuring marching bands, MoonPies and beads in downtown Mobile and Baldwin County. Joe Cain Day (a celebration of the local man who kept Mardi Gras alive) is observed the Sunday before Fat Tuesday.

Parade schedules vary. Reference the official downtown Mobile schedule here and the more expansive Mobile Mask parade schedule here.
